Not-So-Newlywed Game

The 13th annual Not-So-Newlywed Game was held Friday, August 3rd, at the Landers Theater in downtown Springfield. This is the largest fundraising event of the year for OCC and this year’s game set a new record for the amount of money raised.

Jeff Jenkins of the Skinny Improv handled the MC duties this year for the first time. His energy and humor added greatly to the show. Contestants this year were: Wes & Patty Dunn, Peter & Gerre Emmott, Howard & Jan Fisk, Steve & Erika Kessler, and Butch & Kathy Purvis. The Emmotts were the grand prize winners, but all the couples were great and helped us all have an evening of laughs. During the show the OCC Board of Directors awarded former board president Barbara Lucks the Jack Harmon Award for Distinguished Service to the agency.

Thanks again to our couples, our theater audience, donors and corporate sponsors, silent-auction donors and participants, and to our board and staff who teamed together to make the night an entertainment and financial success. And thanks to the staff and management of the Landers Theater for being such good hosts.

Chronic Illness Group

Ozarks Counseling Center is now offering a therapy group for persons with chronic physical illnesses. The group meets a 10:00 am on Tuesdays. There is no charge for the group, thanks to a generous grant from the Ozarks Health Advocacy Foundation. Call 869-9011 for more information.
